Hello! My name is Lona Saccomando. I am often referred to by "Tink". I was fortunate enough to be able to serve in the Navy as a Naval Flight Officer flying a couple of different pointy-nose jets; "Tink" was my call sign. I got out of the Navy nearly ten years ago. I am now a supervisor with the Federal Aviation Administration, Office of Aviation Safety - flying a desk for a living these days. I sometimes fly a real one when time and money permit!
Photography has been something I've always admired; I carried a camera with me nearly everywhere I went. However, it was mostly for casual enjoyment until the birth of my first child several years ago. It was then that I took the plunge and purchased my first DSLR, wanting to create newborn photographs of my own. To say the least, I didn't quite get those beautiful newborn shots you see everywhere. Despite this, I became hooked! I quickly realized how much there really is to photography, both technically and artistically. I've come a long way since my first attempts with that DSLR. I now proudly display several large prints of my children on my walls and in my office...including a sweet, beautiful, curled-up sleeping newborn of my second child! What can I say...I LOVE photographing families. I LOVE that my camera allows me to capture a beautiful moment for eternity. I especially LOVE photographing children – capturing their curiosity, candidness, and innocence. I started "TinkR'ing Photography" in order to provide people with cherished moments to proudly display...without having to go through the learning process I've been through. While my passion is to capture a great family or childhood moment, I simply enjoy photography in general. Mostly, I LOVE the process of learning. Time permitting, I try my hands at various techniques and am constantly striving to hone my craft. I spend my spare moments taking online courses, and reading photography books. I use professional-grade gear, industry standard post-processing software, and absolutely LOVE my 70-200mm f/2.8 lens (of course I have others, but it’s what is on my camera most of the time)! We engaged Lona's services for a family get-together and photo shoot. She was professional, courteous, and especially good with the young ones. We will definitely call on her again when the occasion arises. Lona is involved in several organizations, including the Photography Society of America and the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce. Lona volunteers her services to the community through local charities, including Ronald McDonald House Charities of DC; Photographers for Animals (http://forallanimals.org/); and 2017 Centreville International Showcase. She has been selected to be the event photographer for the 25th anniversary of Centreville Day 2017. |
